What is pseudolocalization?

Pseudolocalization (or pseudo-localization) is a software testing method used for testing internationalization aspects of software. Instead of translating the text of the software into a foreign language, as in the process of localization, the textual elements of an application are replaced with an altered version of the original language.

Developers may use this function to pre-fill languages with content before translators start working on the texts.

Example:
Account Settings  becomes  [!!! Àççôûñţ Šéţţîñĝš !!!]

How to run pseudolocalization on my strings?

To make pseudo localization strings you have to select the required keys in the Editor and use the Pseudolocalize... action from the bulk action menu

Increase length, %

Optionally, you may want to increase the length of the pseudolocalized strings, which is very handy in case you are pseudolocalizing to languages, that are known to be longer than the source language (i.e. German is 30% longer than English).

Add brackets

It is recommended to add brackets to psuedolocalized strings so they are easier to spot in the app/website. This option would wrap the resulting string into brackets with exclamations [!!!  !!!] .
